Maine Fiber Company was formed to oversee the construction, maintenance, and leasing of a 1,100-mile high-capacity fiber-optic network in the state of Maine. The network is built with a combination of public and private funding, and is an open-access middle-mile infrastructure available to all service providers on a non-discriminatory basis. As of December 31, 2011 over 500 miles have been completed and are ready for use. Building Lists: As we construct the MFC fiber infrastructure, we are simultaneously extending fiber into, or close to, nearby strategic buildings. As we do so we are capturing and categorizing these buildings in two lists: the official 'MFC Building List' and the 'MFC Target Building List.' The MFC Building List contains buildings that are 1) already ON-NET or 2) have been surveyed and our fiber is in the adjacent Right of Way ("AROW"). The MFC Target Building List contains buildings that are estimated to be within 100' (air mileage) of MFC fiber ("NEAR-NET") and containing tenants that need more than 3Mb of bandwidth.
